What does it mean to host a domain? How can I create my website and get
it online?
To set up a website, there are three steps you will need to take:
Get Your Domain Name
A domain name is a name you want to call your website. For example, the
domain name of the website you're reading now is “goldpuma.com”. To get
a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the
right to use that name.
Choose a Web Host and Sign Up For an Account
A web hosting service provides you with online space. This enables you
to get your web pages online at your registered domain name.
Design Your Web Pages and Get Them Online
There are three ways to create and get your website online:
1- Easy-To-Use Site Builder helps you build your web pages without
difficulty, even if you are not skilled in using any website creating
software. Our web builder is a WYSIWYG program
(What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get). This means that the finished page will
display exactly the way it was designed.
2- You can create the pages offline with your favorite program (DreamWeaver,
FrontPage, etc), and then upload them to your web host. This is another
easy way to get your website online.
3- Frontpage Extensions allow you to publish your site directly from the
FrontPage application. This means that you will not have to upload files
through FTP, or another method. Microsoft FrontPage is a popular WYSIWYG
HTML editor and web site administration tool from Microsoft.

What do “Hosting Space” and
“Site Bandwidth” mean?
Web hosting space is the amount of room that the web host provides to
store your HTML, graphic, video/audio and other files. This figure is
most commonly stated in gigabytes.
Bandwidth (or data transfer) refers to the amount of data that is
accessed by your visitors. Web hosts define bandwidth as the total
amount of data access from your server over a month’s time. This figure
is most commonly expressed in gigabytes.
A good web host will allow you to upgrade to a beefier plan, as needed.

What is the
difference between Linux & Windows web hosting plans? Which is right for
me?
All websites currently run on either a Windows web server or a
Linux-based server. The vast majority of websites run on a Linux-based
platform as Linux has a strong reputation for security and web server
performance. With standard (static) HTML-based websites, the web hosting
platform doesn't make much difference. However it does make a difference when the website uses a dynamic scripting technology such as
ASP (A Microsoft based technology), or PHP / PERL (Linux based
technologies).
One of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to select the same
operating system for your hosting account that you use on your own
computer. This is simply not true. In other words, you can select Linux for
your hosting account if you currently use Windows or Mac operating
systems on your own computer.
Basically, unless your website uses ASP (pages ending in the .asp
extension), Windows hosting is not recommended.
